Vertical Church exists to move people into an encounter with God. We want people to encounter God through His Word, live empowered by His Spirit, and show His love to the world.

Our Values
1. The Word is Central.
Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
2. Humility is the core from which everything we do flows.
Philippians 2:3-4 – Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
James 3:16 – For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.
3. We care for ourselves so we can care for others.
Matthew 11:28-30 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Mark 12:31 – The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
4. We use our language to give life.
Proverbs 11:13 – Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.
James 4:11 – Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
5. Unity displays God’s Glory.
John 13:35 – By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
Matthew 18:15-17 – “Rules for Christlike restoration of relationships.”
1 Timothy 6:3-5 – “Paul teaches against division but that sound teaching leads to godliness.”
6. We use our resources to advance God’s kingdom.
Matthew 25:14-30 – (Parable of the Talents – teaching on faithful stewardship)
Acts 2:44 – And all who believed were together and had all things in common.
Hebrews 13:16 – Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Leadership Values
1. Preparation doesn’t hinder God’s will; it releases it, but structure always submits to the Spirit.
James 4:17 – If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
Mark 2:27 – Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
2. Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
1 Corinthians 10:31 – So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Colossians 3:23-24 – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
1 Timothy 4:14-16 – In this passage, Paul urges Timothy to faithfully use his God-given gift, persevere in sound teaching, and live in a way that leads both himself and his hearers to salvation.
3. Intentional environments inspire courageous decisions.
John 21:9-19 – In this passage, after the resurrection, Jesus meets his disciples on the shore, shares a meal with them, and restores Peter by calling him to care for His people, even unto death.
4. Remove all Barriers.
Acts 15:19 – It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.
5. Trust is the glue that holds us together.
1 Corinthians 1:10 – I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
Hebrews 10:24 – And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
6. Presence communicates value.
Ephesians 4:11-16 – In this passage, Christ gives leaders to equip His people so the church matures in unity, stability, and love, with each member contributing to its growth.
What We Believe
About God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus has always existed yet was born as a baby, lived a sinless human life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of humanity by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again someday to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He, too, has always existed. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also dwells in every Christian to give power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives spiritual gifts to all believers when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.

About the Bible
The Bible is God's Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture or error.

About Human Beings
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin." This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

About Salvation
Salvation is God's free gift to all people. But it only takes effect for those who accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's sacrifice for sin can anyone be forgiven and be saved from sin's penalty. When we turn from our self-centered life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment a person receives Jesus Christ into his or her life by faith.

About Eternal Security
Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot "lose" your salvation. It is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

About Eternity
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

About Baptism and The Lord’s Supper
The New Testament practice of baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is a symbol of obedience to Christ’s command and symbolizes the believer’s faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism always follows a personal commitment of faith in Jesus as Savior. The Lord's Supper (communion) is a symbolic act of worship that recalls the death of Jesus Christ.

Partnership
Participation
Community is biblical, and we have a place for you to find it. Groups for men and women meet weekly. Our Student Ministry meets every Wednesday night at 6 pm, and Vertical Kids gather every Sunday morning during regular service times.
Partner meetings take place annually to review the church’s business matters and vote on necessary agenda items. We want to keep our partners informed so they can fully understand how Vertical operates and reaches the community/world around us. On occasion, a special meeting will be called.
Partners must meet and vote on any of the following decisions to be made:
Selection or Termination of the Lead Pastor
Selection or Termination of the Executive Director
Approval of new Advisory Team members
Approval of the annual budget
The decision to approve debt in excess of one-twelfth of the previous year’s operating budget.

Every ministry area relies on volunteers, and we ask Partners to commit to serving. We would love to walk you through that process if you are unsure where to volunteer. You can sign up to serve in any of the following areas:

We believe in the power of generosity and think Christians should be the most generous people (2 Corinthians 9:6) on earth to support worthy causes.
No organization has more potential to change the world than the local church. (Ephesians 3:10).

All donations are tax-deductible. Annual giving statements are sent via email (but can be printed and mailed by request) no later than January 31st of each year for the previous year.

“I have read the partnership commitments, the core values, and the beliefs outlined in this document and am committed to partnering with Vertical Church as a diligent, faithful disciple of Jesus.
I understand this covenant obligates me to the other partners of Vertical and is an acknowledgment of my submission to the church's leadership. I accept the responsibility to notify Vertical Church leadership if, at any time, I can no longer commit to this covenant, or if I have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding Vertical Church.”
